The aim of the present study was to predict adolescent behavioral disorders based on the quality of mother-child interaction and parenting stress of mothers in Tehran. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all adolescent girls and their mothers in Tehran in the academic year 1403-1404. 200 people were selected using the staged cluster sampling method. The adolescent behavior and self-assessment inventory (Achenbach, 1991), the parent-child relationship questionnaire (Pianta, 1992), and the parenting stress questionnaire (Abidin, 1983) were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression methods. The results showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between mother-child interaction and adolescent behavioral disorders (r=-0.505 and p<0.01) and a positive and significant relationship between mothers' parenting stress and adolescent behavioral disorders (r=0.529 and p<0.01). Also, adolescent behavioral disorders are predicted based on mother-child interaction and mothers' parenting stress (p<0.01). The findings indicate that psychological interventions to improve the quality of mother-adolescent interaction and reduce mothers' parenting stress can be considered as an effective strategy in preventing and reducing adolescent behavioral disorders in Tehran.
