Abstract

The present study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on the quality of marital relationships and sexual satisfaction in women with breast cancer. The present study method was a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. The research population included all women with breast cancer who were members of the Breast Cancer Patients Support Association in Tehran in 1404-1405, from which a sample of 30 women was selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and were divided into two experimental groups (15 people) and control groups (15 people). The data collection tools included the Relationship Quality Scale (RDAS) by Busby et al. (1995), the Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire by Larson et al. (1998), and the emotion-focused therapy program. Univariate and multivariate analysis of covariance were used to test the hypotheses. The findings from the analysis of the hypotheses showed that emotion-focused therapy is effective on the quality of marital relationships and sexual satisfaction in women with breast cancer (P < 0.05).
