Abstract

The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy on anxiety sensitivity, cognitive emotion regulation, and psychological well-being in women with generalized anxiety disorder. The present study was a quasi-experimental study in terms of its purpose and data collection method, which was conducted with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all women with generalized anxiety who referred to psychiatric and psychological centers in Karaj in 1404. The statistical sample included 30 people (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group) from the members of the aforementioned statistical population who were selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used included the Floyd et al. (2005) Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire, Garnevsky et al. (2001) Emotion Regulation, and Riff Psychological Well-being Questionnaire (1989). Statistical analysis of the data was performed using SPSS version 27 software in two descriptive (mean, standard deviation, etc.) and inferential (covariance analysis test) sections. The results of the analysis of covariance showed that neurofeedback treatment has an effect on anxiety sensitivity, cognitive emotion regulation, and psychological well-being in women with generalized anxiety disorder; also, the results of the Bonferroni post hoc test showed that the average scores of the experimental group in anxiety sensitivity and cognitive emotion regulation in the post-test phase were lower than the average scores of the control group, and the average scores of the experimental group in cognitive emotion regulation and psychological well-being in the post-test phase were higher than the average scores of the control group.
