The aim of the present research was to compare the effectiveness of self-healing training and hope-based training on hope in the elderly. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with control and experimental groups. The statistical population consisted of elderly individuals over 70 years old residing in nursing homes in Khorramabad city in the year 2025. To select the research sample, using the convenience sampling method, 75 individuals were selected and randomly assigned to three groups: self-healing training, hope-based training, and a control group (25 individuals in each group). To collect data, the Hope Scale (Snyder et al., 1991) was used. The experimental groups received self-healing training and hope-based training in eight 90-minute sessions. For data analysis, analysis of covariance with repeated measures was used. The results of this research showed that self-healing training and hope-based training are effective on hope in the elderly (p<0.01). Furthermore, the results indicated that the effectiveness of hope-based training on hope is greater than that of self-healing training (p<0.01).
