Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress intervention on cognitive-emotional regulation of martyrs' wives. The methodological approach of this study was a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a non-matched control group. The statistical population of the study included all wives (wives) of martyrs in Zahedan whose names were registered in the list of martyrs of the Martyrs' Foundation and Veterans' Affairs of Zahedan. According to Cohen's table, with a medium effect size of 0.5, a test power of 70%, and a type I error of 0.05, 40 people were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two intervention groups and a control group (20 people in each group). The standard cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire of Granievski and Kraij (2006) was the research instrument. For the experimental group, an 8-session course of mindfulness training content based on the Kabat-Zinn et al. approach was provided. This is while the control group did not receive any treatment. The results of the completed and validated questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS software and the analysis of covariance statistical method to test the research hypotheses. Finally, it was concluded that; Mindfulness-based stress intervention is effective in increasing the cognitive-emotional regulation of the spouses of martyrs. These findings emphasize that mindfulness can help individuals cope with the challenges of grief by providing tools for better management of thoughts and emotions, accepting the reality of loss, and increasing self-awareness. Also, strengthening the ability to communicate and understand each other can help reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
